Minna Jiu Jitsu Mission and Guidelines
Mission Minna Jiu Jitsu aims to encompass the best practices from multiple martial arts forms yet remains a school, or Ryu, in its own right. The Rights of self defense, defense of one’s family and friends and of the weak and vulnerable are a gift to humanity by the Creator of All Things. The Dojo and Minna Jiu Jitsu provide a vehicle for one to learn techniques to protect those rights and to create in the participant an appreciation of those Rights. These rights pertain to all humanity. The Specific Purpose of the Dojo is the study and discipline of Minna Jiu Jitu and the martial arts. The Greater Purpose of the Dojo is that of enriching the participant’s physical, psychological and spiritual development and well-being as well as the same development and well-being of others both within and outside the Dojo. Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo believe that men, women and children have, through the enrichment lives, whether their own or of others, is, more than any rank, certificate, award or other recognition, the greatest satisfaction. Participants agree and understand that it is their responsibility to mutually develop their physical, psychological and spiritual well-being. These aspirations are oriented to Goodwill and Peace for all humanity. Guidelines Participants must be capable of exercising self-control, discipline, patience. They must affirmatively agree to the mission of Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo. Those who are unable to or who refuse to exercise such behavior shall be expelled from Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo. No participant shall participate or create or be a danger to others or behave in an anti-social manner. This shall include participants suffering from mental illness or instability, infectious diseases or illnesses, drug or alcohol addition or who engage in any abnormal behavior that endangers other or that brings shame to Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo. Those with criminal records may be denied participation as well as those who commit crimes and those who, in general, create troubles or difficulties. Such people shall be expelled from Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo. Being, however, an organization dedicated to the betterment of humanity, Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo will, where appropriate and at its own discretion, will assist and / or readmit to participation, those who have corrected whatever situation caused them to be expelled. In certain situations a report from an approved physician and / or psychiatrist and / or psychologists examination and report may be required. In short, those creating difficulties or participating in any act that disregards the dignity of others or that may bring disgrace to Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo shall be expelled. All participants expressly agree and understand that accidents may occur during training in the martial arts. All participants expressly agree to accept personal responsibility for any accident and not to blame or hold liable Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo or the other Students, Instructors and Advisors. This agreement and understanding extends to any act within or outside of the Dojo. Those unwilling to take and accept such responsibility shall be expelled. Those not upholding the Mission and Guidelines of Minna Jiu Jitsu and the Dojo shall be expelled. As a community, participants shall respect themselves and each other and humanity, mutually develop their physical, psychological and spiritual well-being and regard this training as a means oriented to Goodwill and Peace for all humanity.
